Responsibilities

One of the main poles of ÖMKi's activities is the national and EU agricultural policy related to organic farming. Currently, there is an opportunity to get involved in our agricultural policy activities for the below listed EU and national projects. The specific project(s) to be assigned to our new staff member will be defined in a joint and detailed discussion with the candidate.

BOOST4BIOEAST:aims to empower national stakeholders in the Central Eastern European and Baltic countries (BIOEAST countries) for the development of national bioeconomy action plans and to build long-lasting structures and spaces of dialogue for national and macro-regional cooperation.

AGROECOLOGY:aims to support and accelerate farming system transition through agroecology in Europe using targeted research funding and by capitalising on participatory research approaches such as living laboratories and research infrastructures.

Agroecology-TRANSECT: aims to unleash the full potential of agroecology for European agriculture by strengthening the knowledge base of farmers, advisors and decision-makers. It aims to deliver robust evidence of the benefits of agroecology on climate change mitigation, biodiversity, and farm socio-economic resilience.

Organic Yields UP: aims to sustainably increase yields in organic farming systems and to establish living laboratories for this purpose.

Climate Farm Demo:aims to build a European-wide network of pilot farmers implementing and demonstrating climate-smart solutions.

Development of a national organic lighthouse network : aims to establish a lighthouse network in Hungary specifically dedicated to the improvement and spread of organic regenerative practices and to organise the actors of the agricultural sector in a community.

Responsibilities:
 
  • Management, full coordination and operational implementation of the research projects’ tasks falling under the responsibility of ÖMKi.
  • Planning and implementation of analytical and research tasks in the field of agricultural policy and execution of related project tasks in close cooperation with national and international actors, experts and researchers of ÖMKi.
  • Carrying out tasks related to the operational work and the improvement of ÖMKi On-Farm Living Lab (several research projects running in parallel).
  • Writing and editing project reports, publications, studies, research papers, policy briefs and research summaries.
  • Full organisation, running and facilitation of professional events (conferences, seminars, mid-year meetings, workshops, etc.) as well as assistance in their preparation and participation as a lecturer.
  • Assistance in other national and international projects of the agricultural policy group of ÖMKi.

Requirements

  • university degree in agronomy, or in other natural sciences or in related social sciences
  • knowledge  about agroecology and organic farming
  • years of experience in project management, preferably in EU-funded projects
  • effective communication in English, both verbal and written  (primary working language)
  • mobility

Nice-to-have

  • PhD degree
  • knowledge about national and EU agricultural policies and support schemes
  • conceptual and practical knowledge of living laboratories and lighthouses
  • driving licence
