Chief Accountant - Nyíregyháza

• Main responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with accounting policies and principles.
  • Manage general ledger and sub-ledger accounting tasks.
  • Independently perform analyses, reconciliations, and post accruals.
  • Actively support monthly, quarterly, and annual closings.
  • Prepare financial statements in accordance with Hungarian and German accounting standards.
  • Oversee fixed and current assets accounting, including depreciation calculations.
  • Submit VAT returns and tax packages for local and German authorities.
  • Handle payroll entries, statistical reports, and ad hoc data submissions.
  • Operate accounting systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Resolve accounting backlogs and outstanding items.

• Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or economics and/or OKJ qualification in finance/accounting.
  • Registered certified accountant qualification (or substantial relevant experience).
  • Communicative English and/or German skills (written and spoken) for auditor communication; language training may be provided.
  • Proficiency in IT tools and confident user-level computer skills.
  • Experience with SAP ERP systems and knowledge of Hungarian Accounting Standards (HAS).
  • Introductory or basic knowledge of IFRS.

Our partners Hungarian subsidiary of a stable company with an international background is seeking a new Chief Accountant to join its team. The purpose of the role is to professionally oversee financial and accounting processes, ensure compliance with both local and international accounting regulations, and support closing and reporting activities. The Chief Accountant will report directly to the Finance Manager and work closely with the local and regional finance teams.
